A Summer of Discontent (kind of)

First of all, the summer has been nothing short of spectacular for the family.  Summer swimming was fun and rewarding.  The kids continue to amaze as they grow and learn.  We spent nearly 4 weeks in Australia and Hawaii which was fantastic.  On the home building front is where the discontent enters the picture...

We're approaching the end of August and not much has happened with our project.  Once the design updates were made in June it took a while for the documents and prints to be updated.  We also learned that the sliding glass doors we planned to install were craptacular so we scrambled and found another manufacturer.  In the process we decided switch all of our windows and doors to Milgard.  Then the problem became lead time.  Our previous supplier lead time was 10 days and the new windows were running at 5-6 weeks. The builder doesn't want to start the framing until he knows the windows are on the way.  Apparently, calling the framers back to the site to complete the window install is expensive.  What this all means is there has been a lot of waiting around.
The good news is the windows shipped this week and will be on site on Wednesday.  The sliding doors will ship 8/30 and so things are beginning to start up again.

Last weekend the lumber was delivered to the site so we went to check it out.  Hopefully next update shows some form of a house taking shape.

I've been traveling this week but Berta took the kids out for another check and the Hardie boards and plank has been delivered.  Starting to look like some work will be done soon!
